Early Scottish Pocketwatch

This watch or movement and dial is marked "Jn Skirving Edinburgh No.3." I was looking to find out something about this maker including a rough idea of the watches age.I have found no reference whatsoever to this maker after a long time searching the Internet.

Also does the number mean this was only his third made watch, making it quite rare?
