Audemars Piguet is one of the world’s great watchmakers, starting off life in 1875 in the small Swiss village of Le Brassus, the company has carved a well deserved reputation for production of exquisite and highly functional timepieces. Its major contribution has been the design and manufacture of complicated watches, including a range of Chronographs, chiming repeaters, moon phase, annual and perpetual calendars, and best of all their superb range of Grande Complications.
The company is one of the very few still owned and run by descendants of the original founders. Jules-Louis Audemars and Edward-Auguste Piguet oversee the continuing innovation that powers the company to continuing greater achievements.
Although well known by collectors of prestige timepieces for many years, the company has also created collections of more affordable watches, like the Royal Oak which brought the luxury watch to a broader population in 1972.
The company continues its innovations today and even ignoring the complexity of the timepieces it creates, these watches are in my opinion some of the best looking watches ever made.
