Watch Dial
This .900 Silver pocket watch is inscribed on the rear case with Japanese characters which translate as "Army" or "The Army".
Hallmarked with Swiss Bear and German Crown and Moon which I believe dates the watch between 1888 & 1934.
Lovely "bamboo" coloured face and "oriental" numerals.
(Apologies for the duplicate inscription picture, one should have been the hallmarks)
The movement is definitely Swiss but is not marked. I have asked an Horologist to try and identify the maker. When I have this information I shall update the detail.
S.A.B Bangkok were Rolex affiliates in Siam (pre-Thailand) and there was quite a large Japanese community in Siam with solid trading links.
S.A.B Thailand still exists as a Rolex affiliate. I have contacted them but unfortunately they could not provide any help on the origins of the watch.
The only "trademark" on the inner case are the letters FR, but so far I have been unable to locate this mark.
The condition of the watch is excellent in part because it was sheathed in a leather pouch which kept in very well.
If anyone can provide any more detail I would appreciate this particularly on who FR may be.
Thank You
Neil
